Over half of members in the Australian Education Union’s Victoria branch voted against the government’s newest pay deal, prompting state school teachers to begin a strike.

The AEU announced the withdrawal of labor after results showed 51 percent rejected the revised offer.

Strike action is confirmed and planned to go ahead without fresh talks planned at present.

Students in state schools may encounter class cancellations as teachers walk off the job.
