Churchill Falls is a large hydroelectric complex located on the Churchill River in Labrador, comprising the Churchill Falls Generating Station (CFGS), the Smallwood Reservoir, and related dams and transmission lines. The CFGS has an installed capacity of 5,428 MW, making it one of Canada's largest hydro facilities. It began operation in the early early seventies, built between 1967 and 1974. The project involved flooding a significant area of the Innu lands, covering six thousand square kilometers. This process created the Smallwood Reservoir and the dams connected to it.
